Tallis Chamber Orchestra all set to celebrate its tenth anniversary

For several years, the Tallis Chamber Orchestra members have been playing together and giving back to the community. And now the members expect that the community will be a part of them as they celebrate their ten year anniversary.

Tallis Chamber Orchestras anniversary gig would take place Saturday, on March 28, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 16 N. 16th Street. The gig will have music from various nations and it is all free. Still they will accept donations and the benefit would go to DREAMS of Wilmington.

The joy of playing with other musicians and love of music appear to be the real charms which have attracted participants church musicians, music teachers, some with occupations outside of music as well as few students to come and volunteer their time.

Tallis Chamber Orchestra organizer and violinist Philip Singleton told that they have had everyone from high school age probably up through 60s. That is one interesting thing about a musical organization. Anybody who has an interest in music, no matter what age they are, can all play together and communicate musically.

Chamber added that they were both teaching in public school systems in orchestra at various high schools in the city, and they kept talking about the string orchestra music they never really got to play too much and they decided to form the group and be able to play some of the music they had been talking about.
